Myth-3 All The Bugs Have to be Soaped Off The Skin

The skin has a normal population of bacteria well accustomed to living there and together doing a good job in keeping the skin healthy. The competition between the ‘good’ and ‘bad’ bugs achieves a state of equilibrium which is healthy for skin. And while we all have a small population of ‘bad’ bugs, the competition usually maintains this at a very low level. The use of soaps, antiseptics and medicated chemicals on the skin tends to alter the balance of the bugs and often kills many of the ‘goodies’, allowing the ‘baddies’ to take over. In many cases, people who substitute sorbolene cream for soap find they no longer have a need to use deodorant.
