Myth-2 Hot Showers Help to Cool You Down

It’s commonly thought that hot water, even on a hot day, will ‘open’ the pores of the skin and cool off the body. In reality, a hot shower causes perspiration which, if accompanied by excessive soaping and scouring, can actually be harmful. It is unlikely that skin ‘pores’ open and close as is generally imagined; I can’t ever remember being ‘winked at’ by a pore! Hence a tepid shower is probably better than either a hot or cold shower. A hot shower followed by a cold shower, which is thought to be beneficial, has no value for the skin.
