Why Do We Sweat Most From the Head and Face?

Most of the body’s sweat glands are in a region from the nipple line to the top of the head. It’s been proposed that this has developed through evolution as a means of dealing most effectively with body cooling

Air temperature is known to decrease logarithmically with the distance from the ground. Air speed also increases and this means sweat glands that are higher on the body will be more effective in cooling the body than those lower down. This has also been suggested as a reason why humans may have become upright rather than remaining on all fours like the apes from whom we have evolved.
